Why Truth is Love and Love is Truth
Mohandas K Gandhi
One of the axioms of religion is, there is no religion other than truth. Another is, religion is love. And as there can be only one religion, it follows that truth is love and love is truth. We shall find too, on further reflection, that conduct based on truth is impossible without love. Truth-force then is love-force.
We cannot remedy evil by harbouring ill will against the evil-doer. This is not difficult of comprehension. It is easy enough to understand. In thousands of our acts, the propelling power is truth or love. And we therefore consciously or unconsciously apply satyagraha in regulating these relations. If we were to cast a retrospective glance over our past life, we would find that out of a thousand of our acts affecting our families, in nine hundred and ninety-nine we were dominated by truth, that in our deeds, it is not right to say we generally resort to untruth or ill will. It is only where a conflict of interests arises, then arise the progeny of untruth, namely, anger and ill will, and then we see nothing but poison in our midst.
A little hard thinking will show us that the standard that we apply to the regulation of domestic relations between rulers and the ruled, and between man and man. Those men and women who do not recognise the domestic tie are considered to be very like brutes or barbarous, even though they in form have the human body. They have never known the law of satyagraha. Those who recognise the domestic tie and its obligations have to a certain extent gone beyond that brute stage. But if challenged, they would say ‘what do we care though the whole universe may perish so long as we guard the family interest?’ The measure of their satyagraha, therefore, is less than that of a drop in the ocean.
When men and women have gone a stage further, they would extend the law of love, that is, satyagraha, from the family to the village. A still further stage away from the brute life is reached when the law of satyagraha is applied to provincial life, and the people inhabiting a province regulate their relations by love rather than by hatred. And when as in Hindustan we recognise the law of satyagraha as a binding force even between province and province and the millions of Hindustan treat one another as brothers and sisters, we have advanced a stage further still from the brute nature. In modern times, in no part of the earth have the people gone beyond the nation stage in the application of satyagraha. In reality, however, there need be no reason for the clashing of interest between nation and nation, thus arresting the operation of great law. If we were not in the habit generally of giving no thought to our daily conduct, if we did not accept the current coin, we would immediately perceive that to the extent that we bear ill will towards other nations or show disregard at all for life, to that extent we disregard the law of satyagraha or love, and to that extent we are still not free from the brute nature.
But there is no religion apart from that which enables us entirely to rid ourselves of the brute nature. All religious sects and divisions, all churches and temples, are useful only so long as they serve as a means towards enabling us to recognise the universality of satyagraha.

Bird Flu
Bird Flu Symptoms
Symptoms of bird flu (avian flu) in humans
In humans, it has been found that bird flu or avian flu causes similar symptoms to other types of flu:
Cough
Fever
Muscle aches
Sore throat
(Severe cases) Breathing problem and pneumonia
Bird flu can be fatal.
Overview of bird flu (avian flu)
Bird flu, or avian flu is an influenza virus strain that typically infects birds - including wild birds like ducks and domestic birds like chickens.
There are many forms of bird flu, and most are relatively harmless, producing mild symptoms or even no symptoms. However, several strains of bird flu produce a highly contagious disease that kills quickly and can lead to a bird flu epidemic. These dangerous viruses are known as "highly pathogenic avian influenza." One such bird flu virus is currently spreading among chickens in some Asian countries.
In recent years it was discovered that the bird flu virus can occasionally infect people who have close contact with live birds.
How dangerous is bird flu?
There have been a number of small outbreaks of bird flu since 1997, and people who get it appear to have a high mortality rate.
1997 Hong Kong - 18 people were infected and 6 people died.
2003 Hong Kong - Two cases and one death.
2004 East Asia- As many as 10 deaths have been linked to an outbreak in a number of Asian countries.
How can bird flu be treated?
Anyone with bird flu symptoms should see a health care professional immediately. Several antiviral medications used to treat human flu appear to be effective in treating bird flu, although the strain is resistant to some others. Consult your doctor.
The H5N1 virus currently infecting birds in Asia that has caused human illness and death is resistant to amantadine and rimantadine, two antiviral medications commonly used for influenza. Two other antiviral medications, oseltamavir and zanamavir, would probably work to treat flu caused by the bird flu virus, though studies still need to be done to prove that they work.
There currently is no vaccine to protect humans against the strain of bird flu virus that's been detected in Asia. However, research studies to test a bird flu vaccine to protect humans against this variety of bird flu began in April 2005.
How to Avoid Getting Bird Flu
The Centers for Disease Control recommends:
*travelers to clean their hands often with soap and water or waterless alcohol-based hand-rubs
*all foods from poultry, including eggs, should be thoroughly cooked.
*any travelers with a febrile respiratory illness returning from countries affected by H5N1 virus (bird flu) to seek prompt medical attention.
*avoid contact with live poultry and birds (if you are traveling to areas affected by avian influenza outbreaks)

This is the beginning

"This is the beginning of a new day.
You have been given this day to use
as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good."
An SMS Chat with GOD
An SMS Chat with GOD That Changed My Life
By I, Me, Myself ------Courtsey: Indiatimes
God: Hello. You called me.
I, Me, Myself: Called you? No, who is this?
G: This is God. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat with you.
IMM: Sure, I pray. Just makes me feel good. Actually, am busy now. In the midst of something, you know.
G: What are you busy with? Ants are busy, too.
IMM: Don’t know. But I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic. It’s rush hour all the time.
G: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.
IMM: But I still can’t figure it out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.
G: Well, I wanted to help you resolve your fight for time by giving you some clarity. I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.
IMM: Tell me, why has life become so complicated?
G: Stop analysing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.
IMM: Why are we then cons-tantly unhappy?
G: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because the act of worrying has become a habit. That’s why you are not happy.
IMM: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?
G: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.
IMM: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty.
G: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.
IMM: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?
G: Diamonds cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials. With that experience their life becomes better, not bitter.
IMM: You mean to say such experience is useful?
G: Yes. Experience is a hard teacher, though. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.
IMM: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can’t we be free from problems?
G: Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons to Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.
IMM: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading.
G: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.
IMM: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction.
G: Success is relative, quantified by others. Satisfaction is absolute, quantified by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead.
IMM: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here? I don’t know the answers.
G: Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.
IMM: How can I get the best out of life?
G: Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.
IMM: Sometimes my prayers are not answered.
G: There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.
IMM: Thank you for this wonderful chat. I’ll try to be less fearful.
G: Keep the faith and drop the fear. Life is a mystery to solve, not a problem to resolve. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

Improve Quality of Mind
Thoughts to Improve Quality of Mind
--SADHGURU JAGGI VASUDEV

Q: Many times, impure thoughts come to my mind. How can I improve the quality of my thoughts?
First, understand that the mind is an accumulation. It is society’s garbage bin. Anybody who passes by, stuffs something into your head; Let’s say you don’t like this person. Can you stop taking things from him? You receive much more from people whom you don’t like than from people whom you like, isn’t it? You have no choice about what enters — everything that you’re exposed to in the world will enter you. You have discretion about what to use and what not to use, but you have no discretion about what to take and what not to take. So what you call as thought is just a certain reverberation which is happening all the time. Whatever the content of your garbage bin, that is the kind of thought that is going on. I don’t want to improve the quality of your thought. I just want you to find the switch and switch them off, like how they have been telling all of you here to turn off your cellphones. Don’t you turn your cellpone off ? {laughs} Switch it off, and turn it on when you need. You don’t have to control the quality of the thought; you turn it off when you don’t want it, you turn it on when you want it. If you have this mechanism, then thought is not a problem. The very source of Creation is throbbing within you; what is it that you’re thinking about which is more important than that? To handle the mundane activity of life, you need to think. When you need to, you turn on your cellphone; when you don’t need, you switch it off. Mind is just a small version of your Internet. It has gathered this and that from everywhere. When we need it, we go online, when we don’t need it, we go offline, isn’t it? That’s how you should be. Don’t try to improve the quality of the Internet; all the garbage in the world goes onto the Internet. What you want to access, and when you want to access is up to you. But you lost that freedom. All the time it is on. That is why you’re talking about improving the quality of thought. Don’t try to improve the quality of thought; you cannot. If you turn it off and turn it on... if it becomes a conscious process, then you would naturally choose what you want.
Q: What is the best way to seek the Divine?
If this fundamental nature of what it means to be human finds a natural expression in one’s life, one need not go in search of Divine; the Divine will chase you. It’ll be behind you. Generally, people have been taught to look up to the Divine, to plead for the Divine, to beg the Divine, to pray to the Divine. I think you must live in such a way that the Divine should be a willing servant in your life. Only then this life is really worth it. If you make yourself into a beautiful being, the Divine should crawl behind you all the time. Where can He find a man like you? That’s how it should be. This is not out of ego. It is just that when the flower blossoms, the flower does not go in search of the bee, though the flower’s existence and its future depends on the bee. It exudes such fragrance that the bee has to come. Even though the very existence of the flower if dependent on the bee, still, it is the bee that comes to the flower. Only if you don’t have the fragrance, you have to take the flower to the bee.
